How to service and repair the rear parking brake cable on 2007 Lincoln Town Car?

The first step for servicing or repairing the rear parking brake cable requires releasing the parking brake control through the parking brake release handle. Particularly for operations where vehicle shift poses a risk, users must disable electrical power to air suspension through the luggage compartment switch to avoid involuntary air spring inflation or deflation that could put operators in dangerous situations. Place the vehicle onto a hoisting system while operating it in the NEUTRAL gear. Fully activate the parking brake control by pulling the adjuster clip down before locking the adjuster with the upward motion of the clip. Press the parking brake adjuster clip upward to lock it before you release the parking brake control once again from operation. The front parking brake cable and conduit must be detached from the rear cable and conduit through the cable connector. After pressing retaining tabs to free up the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the frame bracket disconnect the LH parking brake rear cable and conduit retainer from the cable adjuster. Tighten the bolts that secure the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) when installing them. Before removing the parking brake cable and conduit the operator should disconnect its components from the parking brake cable connector and unclip them from the axle housing. The installation method requires following removal steps in reverse order while setting the cable tension appropriately.
