2006 Lincoln Town Car Throttle Body Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the throttle body safely and effectively on 2006 Lincoln Town Car?
A: The safety requirement for servicing the throttle body includes keeping areas around fuel components smoke and fire-free since they contain combustible mixtures. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery terminal while you also remove the outlet air cleaner tube. The service of the throttle body begins with removing the electrical connectors of the throttle actuator control (TAC) and throttle position (TP) sensor. Begin the throttle body (TB) service by removing its four bolts before pulling out the throttle body while throwing out the TB gasket. The throttle body installation requires new TB gasket installation before attaching it with four bolts which you need to torque in a two-step process starting at 9 Nm (80 lb-in) before performing another 90 degrees of torquing. Attach the electrical connectors to the TAC and TP sensors then return the air cleaner outlet tube to its place and complete the replacement by reinstalling the negative battery cable.
