How to service the rear bumper cover on 2006 Mercury Mountaineer?

The Mountaineer rear bumper service requires removal of first taillamps and next the bumper cover pin retainers. Beginning work on the Mountaineer bumper cover requires you to detach both the rear parking aid sensor electrical connector and the side marker lamp electrical connector when they are present. The seven inner bumper cover scrivets need to be taken out next. The Mountaineer rear bumper cover contains one bracket which connects to the sheet metal through its molding edge at the top section but before pulling the cover up you must repeat this method on both sides. Complete the installation by returning all needed components and following the reverse steps of removal.
