2007 Ford Crown Victoria Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2007 Ford Crown Victoria?
A: The first step in servicing the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor requires placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL position on a hoist. The drive belt extraction from the A/C compressor pulley can begin after you disconnect the battery ground cable and activate the tensioner. The service procedure for the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor begins with disconnecting both the A/C compressor field coil electrical connector and CKP sensor electrical connector followed by removing the nut while detaching the wiring harness clips at installation apply 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque. The mechanic should loosen the three A/C compressor bolts just enough to drop the compressor one inch before tightening them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) during reinstallation. First detach the CKP sensor bolt then tighten it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) during assembly before taking off the sensor. You need to repower the vehicle that has a fire suppression system after installation by performing an inverse procedure to removal.
