- Q: What precautions should be taken when servicing the front seat cushion on 2007 Ford Crown Victoria?A: It is essential to wear safety glasses during front seat cushion servicing to prevent air bag safety hazards along with keeping away from probing the air bag module connectors. You should depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS) in advance because the RCM fuse removal during ON ignition state will activate the air bag warning lamp correctly without indicating a failure. Position the seat at the front before you begin to remove its fasteners. Afterward demonstrate removal of the front seat. You must uninstall the occupant classification sensor (OCS) during the removal process of the front seat backrest and seat track from any seat having the OCS feature. To access the power lumbar connector of a seat you first need to carefully separate the power lumbar bezel at its tabs before disconnecting the electrical connector of the lumbar switch. Remove the retainer features on the cushion trim cover by unfastening the J-clips together with pin-type retainers. Heated seat installation requires disconnecting both the cushion heater mat along with the heated seat module electrical connectors followed by releasing the locking tab from the heated seat module bracket before removing the module. The seat armrest removal process begins by removing the two pin covers followed by the retaining clip, pin, armrest, and its cover trim. Then the three bolts and armrest bracket must be taken out. Before proceeding with removal, eliminate the frame of the cushion followed by taking out any necessary pushpins and cushion mat from the frame area while positioning the mat elsewhere if necessary. To start the repair process you should first detach the seat cushion trim cover from the foam pad then take out the flexolator from the cushion frame. The passenger seat receives its OCS before the flexolator gets attached to the cushion frame and the seat cushion trim cover gets attached to the foam pad. Fasten the two pushpins to the mat while it sits above the flexolator before reinstalling the cushion frame. Put three bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) torque on the armrest bracket followed by the armrest cover trim, armrest, armrest pin, armrest pin retaining clip, and armrest pin covers. The heated seat installation starts by seating the heated seat module on its bracket until complete then connecting both heated seat module and cushion heater mat electrical wires. To complete the process, caregivers will install the power lumbar electrical connector on seats with this feature before reattaching the seat track, front seat backrest and front seat while reseting the SRS system.
