2007 Ford E-150 Power Steering Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Reservoir on 2007 Ford E-150?
A: The first step for servicing or repairing the power steering reservoir requires placing the vehicle in neutral position on a hoist. A suitable suction device should be used to collect power steering fluid from the reservoir. The reservoir of these vehicles obtains its lift from the specified bracket. On vehicles with 6.0L engines, the power steering reservoir bracket can be detached by removing its cowl-mounting bolts, which need tightening to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.) when reinstalling. Secure the reservoir bracket to the radiator support through two bolts, which require 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) tightening torque for reinstallation. Next, follow this step by taking out the three bolts which secure the power steering reservoir before splitting the bracket from the reservoir while tightening these bolts to 11 Nm during reassembly. A tools clamp presser is used to disconnect the power steering cooler-to-reservoir hose while also disconnecting the power steering pump-to-reservoir hose. The final step involves removing the power steering reservoir, and reinstallation should be performed by reversing its removal process while checking for leaks after filling the system.
