2007 Ford E-250 A/C Accumulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Accumulator in the HVAC System on 2007 Ford E-250?
A: Start the suction accumulator HVAC system servicing procedure by recovering refrigerant then disconnecting the battery followed by taking out the battery and battery tray components keeping in mind to remove the bolts and then the tray before final tightening to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft). Move forward by taking out the two reservoir tube bolts and storing the tube away. When removing the evaporator outlet fitting use two wrenches to stabilize the refrigerant line from twisting before disposing of the O-ring seal and torquing the fitting to 39 Nm (29 lb-ft). The suction accumulator outlet fitting requires disconnection by removing an outlet line bracket screw and fitting nut along with discarding the O-ring seal and gasket seal before tightening the fitting to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft) and tightening the screw to 2 Nm (18 lb-in) for reinstallation. The installation process requires removal of the outlet line bracket screw for vehicles with auxiliary A/C while tightening it to 2 Nm (18 lb-in) before reinstallation and disconnecting the suction accumulator outlet spring lock coupling which requires disposal of O-ring seals. The service technician should first disconnect the A/C cycling switch electrical connector while also removing and tightening two suction accumulator bolts to 14 Nm (10 lb-ft). Reinstallation requires a new gasket seal and O-ring seals together with suction accumulator mounting, proper oil quantities of clean PAG oil for lubrication of the refrigerant system and vacuum and leak testing along with subsequent refrigerant charging.
