2007 Ford Expedition Battery Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the battery cables on 2007 Ford Expedition?
A: Repair work on battery cables must begin by placing the vehicle in neutral position and mounting it on a hoist. You must disconnect the battery before removing the nut which enables the battery ground cable terminal to position away from the starter and secure the terminal to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). The nut removal procedure for the starter solenoid positive cable terminal allows placement to the side before torqueing it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Position the starter solenoid wire terminal to the side by removing its retaining nut then tighten it to 5 Nm (44 lb-in). Locate the two battery cable harness brackets from the A/C compressor mounting bolts then tighten them to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) after reinstalling. Position the battery ground cable-to-frame terminal aside by removing the bolt then tighten it to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft) during reinstallation. Secure the nut to position both the generator harness terminal and the CJB cable terminal aside during installation by tightening it to 9 Nm (80 lb-in). Place the bolt aside when positioning the battery ground cable-to-cowl panel terminal and then tighten it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). The exact procedure starts with removing the battery cable harness in-line electrical connector followed by releasing the harness locator before removing the assembly. The removal process ends when performing its opposite sequence.
