2007 Ford Expedition Sway Bar Link Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the front sway bar link on 2007 Ford Expedition?
A: Service and repair operations of the front sway bar and link need to start by elevating the vehicle onto a hoist when it is in neutral gear. The hex holding feature prevents the stud from turning during removal of two upper sway bar link nuts which should be tightened to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft) during installation. The process continues by removing the two lower sway bar link nuts but discarding them while taking out the sway bar links without tools and tightening them to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft) when reinstalling. The installer can begin by deleting the four sway bar bracket nuts and both brackets and sway bar. All nuts must be discarded before reinstallation where new nuts should be tightened to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). This repair process requires discarding sway bar bracket bolt plates together with proper installation of the sway bar bushing upset into groove position. Bushings for the sway bar need replacement inspection then installation when necessary. The final step in installation requires performing the backward procedure of removal.
