2007 Ford F-150 Automatic Transmission Shift Levers Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair Automatic Transmission Shift Levers for the Column Shift on 2007 Ford F-150?
A: The first step for repair or servicing of a column shift automatic transmission shift lever requires removal of the steering wheel along with the screw and lower steering column shroud. You should then remove the two screws which fix the upper steering column shroud before disconnecting the electrical connector of the overdrive cancel switch. The retaining screw needs removal to separate the shift lever. Place the shift lever inside the steering column then fasten it using the screw before torquing it to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Guide the overdrive cancel switch wire harness while preventing damage before connecting the electrical connector to the overdrive cancel switch. After installing both screws onto the upper steering column shroud you should attach the lower steering column shroud with its screw before installing the steering wheel.
