2007 Ford F-150 Automatic Transmission Shift Levers Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair Automatic Transmission Shift Levers for the Floor Shift on 2007 Ford F-150?
A: The first step to work on the floor shift automatic transmission shift levers involves taking off the left side kick panel from the floor console. First remove the left side kick panel from the floor console then lift the console storage lid cover followed by removing the console finish panel. Separate the automatic transmission shift lever cable from its functional connections with both the automatic transmission shift lever bracket and its arm. The automatic transmission shift lever removal process starts by removing its bolts then disconnecting its electrical connection before extracting the part from the vehicle. Following assembly of the automatic transmission shift lever assembly into the console use 12 Nm (9 feet pounds) torque for bolting the assembly in place. You should reconnect the electrical connection that controls the automatic transmission shift lever harness. Check that the cable locking tabs interact properly and the ball stud receives the cable end before final installation. Cover the cable towards the bracket because the mechanism will audibly click and then check it by pulling back on the cable. Perform this procedure once again when attaching the automatic transmission shift lever arm end. Reposition the left console kick panel as well as the console finish panel into their original positions.
