2007 Ford Five Hundred Thermostat Housing Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the thermostat housing on 2007 Ford Five Hundred?
A: The cooling system requires draining as the first step for servicing the thermostat housing. The first step involves removing the air cleaner assembly before disconnecting the degas bottle-to-thermostat housing hose which should then be placed aside. The installation will start by unplugging the throttle body-to-thermostat housing hose followed by disconnecting the upper radiator-to-thermostat housing hose and the bypass tube-to-thermostat housing hose and finally the heater hose from the thermostat housing and the lower radiator-to-thermostat housing hose. Keep each hose aside. Use a screwdriver to disconnect the two bolts that fasten the thermostat housing and dispose of the existing O-ring seal. Install new O-rings to the thermostat housing before tightening bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Also apply clean engine coolant for lubrication on the O-rings. The cooling system filling and bleeding operations must take place to finalize the work.
