    A: The first step to service the ignition switch lock cylinder requires disconnecting the battery. After disconnecting the battery start by removing the instrument panel lower panel screws and releasing the fastener before redoing all screws to 9Nm (80lb-in) torque when installing it back. A thin bladed screwdriver should be used to free the two tabs of the steering column shroud while the upper shroud needs to be taken off. First take out the audio control switch when present and follow with the removal of three lower steering column shroud screws. You should use a thin screwdriver to press the detent while turning the key to position I (Accessory). This will allow you to remove the lock cylinder. The installation process requires executing the reverse steps of the removal sequence.
