2007 Ford Freestar Canister Purge Valve Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve on 2007 Ford Freestar?
A: Starting the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve service requires disconnecting the battery ground cable because it protects against fuel vapor fire or explosion risks. First disconnect the electrical connector from the EVAP canister purge valve and then remove the cowl panel grille. Detaching operation starts with removing the two quick connect couplings from the EVAP tube that connects with the EVAP canister purge valve. The two mounting nuts which connect the EVAP canister purge valve with its bracket need to be removed along with the bracket itself. The release tab should be depressed to remove the EVAP canister purge valve from its mounting bracket. Reinstall the components by following the given removal steps and securing the mounting nuts to a torque of 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). To complete the procedure run a leak test followed by performing a drive cycle to confirm proper operating condition.
