2007 Ford Freestar Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir on 2007 Ford Freestar?
A: The coolant reservoir requires servicing but avoid turning the pressure relief cap while running an operating engine or while hot since the system pressure creates intense steam and hot liquid flow. You can clear pressure by turning the pressure relief cap counterclockwise by one half turn while removing it. The lower degas bottle return hose requires hose clamp pliers while a proper suction tool empties coolant from the bottle. Follow by unbolting the fender support brace with two bolts and tighten them to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs) when reattaching. The power steering fluid reservoir-to-degas bottle bolt needs a torque of 10 Nm (89 inch lbs) before reattachment. Begin by moving the power steering fluid reservoir to the side before taking off the air bleed hose and the engine vent hose and the degas bottle return hose. Safer reinstallation of degas bottle-to-fender bolts requires torquing them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs). To install the degas bottle begin by following the reversal of removal steps. Pour recommended coolant mixture into the degas bottle while keeping to the specified fill level.
