2007 Ford Freestar Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the heater core on 2007 Ford Freestar?
A: A leak test should be performed first when you need to service the heater core while the cooling system remains drained after conducting the test. Before Heater core service begin by moving front seating in full rear position and disable supplemental restraints. Commence the heater core service by firstly removing the wiper motor assembly and pivot components before proceeding with removal of the LH and RH windshield side garnish and the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim pieces. Lower the glove compartment after you detach heater hoses from the heater core. Replace the three bolts in the steering column opening panel by tightening them to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) during reinstallation. After removing the steering column opening panel cover proceed to take out the upper bolts before tightening them to 8 Nm (71 lb-in) when reinstalling. Remove the steering column opening panel reinforcement and the four storage console pin-type retainers as well as the storage console. The technician should remove the rear seat floor duct adapter then replace it before tightening the adapter bolt to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). After that, the technician should remove the upper instrument panel finish panel followed by the LH lower instrument panel bolt which needs to be tightened to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). After installation of the upper instrument panel bolt on the LH side tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) while installing all four upper instrument panel bolts before finishing with a 5 Nm (44 lb-in) tightness on the upper instrument panel cowl bolt. Rewiring requires both 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) bolt torque on the four instrument panel center support brace bolts during installation and 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) on the LH instrument panel support bracket bolt at reinstallation time. The operator should gauge the RH instrument panel bolts to half their original length but stop short of complete removal. Installation torque specification amounts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Access through the glove compartment opening to remove the RH instrument panel support bracket bolt before moving the LH instrument panel exterior the dash panel boundary. The technician must detach the heater core and evaporator core housing support brace nut and bolt before removing the brace from the assembly. Begin by removing the floor duct through the detachment of its four screws followed by removal of the seven heater core cover screws. The wire harness needs detachment from the heater core cover to extract the cover and heater core together. The heating process ends through performing the exact removal methods while refilling the engine's cooling system.
