Ford Freestar Heater Core Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the front heater core on Ford Freestar?
A: The service process of front heater cores includes clamp-off detachment of heater hoses as the first step. Start by lowering the glove compartment before you remove the equipment following the indicated sequence. Detach the electrical connector from both the storage console and the upper instrument panel finish panel. Before shifting the instrument panel away from the dash panel use a long bolt or threaded rod of matching diameter and thread pitch instead of the left-hand instrument panel bolt to provide support. Apply the same procedure to the right-hand instrument panel bolt while tightening it to a maximum of half. Through the glove compartment opening detach the bolt which allows you to position the left instrument panel support 3 inches from the dash panel. The wire harness should be disconnected from the heater core cover. The installation ends with the correct opposite order of removal followed by filling up the engine cooling system. A heater core must undergo leak testing before its removal when there are leak suspicions.
