First remove all bolts from the differential housing cover while draining the lubricant from the housing unit. Before installation both the differential housing and the cover must undergo a cleaning process to remove all trace of oil from their machined surfaces while you should protect the inside of the rear axle from contaminant exposure during this operation. Install a continuous silicone bead onto the differential housing cover before installing it within 15-minute time frame to prevent needing fresh sealant. After silicone application it is best to wait for at least one hour until filling the axle with lubricant. Attach the differential housing cover afterward securing the bolts at 45 Nm torque value. Add friction modifier to the amount of 118 ml (4 oz) before pouring 2.4 liters (5.0 pints) of rear axle lubricant into the Traction-Lok axle and finally install and tighten the fill plug to 52 Nm (38 ft. lbs.).
