2007 Ford Taurus Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Remove and Replace the Front Shock Absorber and Spring Assembly on 2007 Ford Taurus?
A: The process of exchanging the front strut and spring assembly starts by placing the ignition switch to position 1. The wheel hub bearing along with disc brake dust shield can stay in place with the wheel knuckle while performing the replacement. Power tools should not be used to remove the nut since this will protect the boot and ball joint from damage. The initial step should be to start loosening the nut before employing the hex holding feature to stabilize the stabilizer bar link ball joint for the nut removal process. The stabilizer bar link upper nut must be discarded while disconnecting the bar link and torque too 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.) on new nut installation. The master step includes removing the brake hose bracket bolt before you disconnect the bracket from the strut while installing the new bolt at 15 Nm torque (11 ft. lbs.). Fire up the ABS sensor wire then set it off to the side after unclipping its retainer but skip the washer hose if required. Remove and dump the three top strut mount nuts from the assembly before removing the strut and spring unit while tightening all new strut mounting nuts to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.) at installation. New stabilizer bar link upper nuts and strut mounting nuts must be installed for all operations while carefully placing the spring between its spring seats.
