2007 Ford Taurus Coil Springs Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Remove and Replace the Front Coil Springs and Strut Assembly on 2007 Ford Taurus?
A: You should start the front strut and spring assembly exchange process by setting the ignition switch to number 1 position. The front wheel knuckle requires removal instead of disc brake dust shield or wheel hub and bearing components. The use of power tools on the nut removal process should be avoided since it may damage both the boot and the ball joint. First loosen the stabilizer bar link ball joint nut before holding the ball joint steady with the hex feature to prevent it from turning. After discarding the stabilizer bar link upper nut you must disconnect the stabilizer bar link while torquing the new nut to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.). You should first remove the brake hose bracket bolt before detaching the brake hose bracket from the strut where you need to tighten the new bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.) during reassembly. The technician needs to unclip the ABS sensor wire retainer before moving the sensor to the side and disassembling the washer hose retainer when needed. You must eliminate then discard the upper strut mount nuts before extracting the strut and spring assembly by following installation guidelines of 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.) torque for the new strut mounting nuts. The correct placement of the spring within both spring seats must be verified during reinstallation while using new stabilizer bar link upper nuts and strut mounting nuts.
