2007 Ford Taurus Wiper Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Wiper Switch in the Steering Column on 2007 Ford Taurus?
A: Service and repair of the wiper switch starts by following the procedure for depowering the supplemental restraint system (SRS). The lock cylinder of the ignition switch can be detached by first using a punch to push up on the release tab while you simultaneously pull out the cylinder with the ignition key in the RUN position. Start by unscrewing three panel screws while removing the three screws keeping the steering column cover in place. Then pull out the steering column tilt lever. The service and repair of the wiper switch begins with separating the upper and lower steering column covers then removing the two multi-function switch screws that should be tightened to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs) after installation. The electrical connectivity of the multi-function switch must be disconnected after which you remove the switch component from the vehicle. The installation ends with the reversal of removal steps along with SRS supplemental restraint system reactivation.
