2007 Lincoln MKZ A/C Expansion Valve Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Expansion Valve on 2007 Lincoln MKZ?
A: Service operations for the A/C expansion valve require recovery of refrigerants as an initial step. The A/C pressure transducer electrical connector should be disconnected first before detaching the wire harness from the A/C expansion valve stud. Separate the A/C expansion valve fitting nut to disconnect its fitting while throwing away any present gasket seals. When reinstalling the connection, you should tighten the fitting to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). The two A/C expansion valve bolts should be removed before extracting the A/C expansion valve component while discarding the gasket seals. Follow the reverse order of removal while using new gasket seals and add correct amounts of clean PAG oil for lubricating the refrigerant system. The last step entails evacuation together with leak testing before the refrigerant system gets charged. A new receiver/drier cartridge needs installation only when system contamination occurs from a failed A/C compressor or when damage appears on the receiver/drier cartridge.
