2008 Lincoln MKZ A/C Expansion Valve Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Expansion Valve on 2008 Lincoln MKZ?
A: The service process for the thermostatic expansion valve starts by recovering all refrigerant present. Disconnection of the A/C pressure transducer electrical connector begins the removal process followed by detachment of the wire harness from the TXV stud. Disconnect the TXV fitting by removing its fitted nut with new gasket seals then discard the old ones. Always follow the installation procedure by tightening the fitting up to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). The two TXV bolts need to be removed before pulling out the TXV equipment while disposing of its gasket seals. The installation process for the new TXV requires following the opposite steps of removal while using new gasket seals and requiring correct clean PAG oil for lubricating the refrigerant system. Evacuation must follow leak testing then the refrigerant system needs charging.
