2007 Lincoln MKZ Alternator Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the alternator on 2007 Lincoln MKZ?
A: The first step in repairing or servicing an alternator requires removing the A/C compressor together with disconnecting the vehicle battery. Remove the generator protective cover before taking out the nut to access the generator B+ terminal while you also tighten all bolts to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). Detach the generator electrical connector through the removal of its pin-type retainer along with the wiring harness. Soft clean engine oil should be used to lubricate the oil filter seal before putting it back into place. Place the engine wiring harness to the side before removing the generator stud nut with a specifications torque of 47 Nm (35 lb-ft) for installation. The generator bolt should be removed along with the generator component, and then the installation procedure can be performed in reverse order.
