How to service and repair the alternator on Lincoln MKZ?

In order to service the alternator, disconnect the battery, remove the A/C compressor and lay aside the generator protective cover. Unscrew the electrical connector, take out the oil filter and lubricate its seal. Next, unscrew the generator stud nut and bolt and replace by following the same steps but in reverse order, screwing as is required.
