2008 Ford E-150 Brake Disc Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove and replace the front brake disc on 2008 Ford E-150?
A: Start the procedure to remove and replace the front brake disc by taking off the brake caliper anchor plate first. Comprehend these installation instructions for brake disc and hub removal: Start by taking off the hub grease cap and the cotter pin followed by the nut retainer and spindle nut and external wheel bearing retainer washer and outer wheel bearing until the brake disc and hub are removed. After removing the wheel hub grease seal you need to remove the inner wheel bearing by first taking off the seal followed by the bearing. Evaluate the brake disc before choosing to refinishing it or replacing it with a new one. Before installing check the wheel bearings thoroughly and apply lubrication to them. The installation of a new wheel hub grease seal begins with placing the inner wheel bearing followed by the grease seal. Begin by placing the brake disc and hub together and afterward install the outer wheel bearing and outer wheel bearing retainer washer and finish with the spindle nut. The spindle nut should be torqued to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) while rotating the brake disc and hub before loosening it by 2 turns. Turn the brake disc with the hub 28 Nm (21 lb-ft) while repeating the spindle nut tightening process. Then drive the spindle nut further forward by 175 degrees. Secure the spindle nut by rotating both brake disc and hub until it reaches 2 Nm (18 lb-in). To perform the installation reinstall the components in this order: starting with the nut retainer then the cotter pin and finish with the hub grease cap before putting on the brake caliper anchor plate.
