2008 Ford Edge Coolant Reservoir Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir safely and effectively on 2008 Ford Edge?
A: The coolant reservoir needs servicing by waiting for engine cooling before open the cooling system because system pressure results in forceful steam and hot liquid discharge leading to dangerous injuries. First step is to reduce pressure in the cooling system through counterclockwise rotation of the pressure relief cap by one half turn then remove it. Clamp down the lower degas bottle hose with hose clamp pliers before using a suitable suction device to drain coolant from the bottle. Detach the upper and lower hose connections of the degas bottles then position them safely aside. Unbolt and disconnect the degas bottle including its screw attachment to the washer bottle while extracting the bottle from its position. Reinstall by fastening the bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) specifications following the reverse removal process while filling the degas bottle at the end.
