2008 Ford Explorer Dimmer Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the headlamp dimmer switch on 2008 Ford Explorer?
A: Before servicing the headlamp dimmer switch one should begin by disconnecting the battery ground cable. Two screws should be removed from the steering column opening cover and afterwards three screws need to be removed from the upper and lower steering column shrouds. The electrical connector of the multi-function switch needs removal followed by two screws which hold the switch in place. Follow these steps to install the new multi-function switch by tightening it to 3 Nm (27 lb-inch) before executing the reverse procedure until the installation process is complete. The removal process must not involve simultaneous ignition lock cylinder and ignition switch extraction in order to protect the steering column from damage.
