- Q: How to Service the Camshaft Position Sensor on 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty?A: The first step for servicing the camshaft position (CMP) sensor requires a vehicle in neutral position with hoisting support. Start engine control services only after switching the ignition switch off to protect against equipment damage. The CMP sensor sits on the driver side of the engine so the technician needs to disconnect its electrical connector. First unscrew the bolt holding the CMP sensor and after that remove the sensor equipment alongside the O-ring seals to discard. Secure the bolt to 13 Nm when installing the sensor (115 lb-in torque). Place the blue O-ring seal first near the flange then position the red O-ring seal near the metal tip while verifying a proper seating of both components. Before installing the new O-ring seals apply clean engine oil on their surfaces. Recovery of the system starts when you perform the removal procedure in reverse order.
