- Q: How to service the vacuum brake booster on 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty?A: The vacuum brake booster service process starts by removing the air cleaner element followed by removing the 2 bolts which allows positioning of the degas bottle/lower air cleaner housing assembly aside. When reuniting the components tighten the bolts to 15 Nm (11 lb-ft). Press and release the brake pedal at least five times while the engine is off to relieve the vacuum pressure of the brake booster. First disconnect the brake fluid level switch along with the electrical connector of the vapor management valve before removing it from its bracket and putting it aside. Secure the master cylinder to the side when positioning it aside while ensuring proper torque of 27 Nm (20 lb-ft) at installation. Empty the brake booster vacuum hose then disconnect the power distribution auxiliary relay box and safely set it to the side. First remove the brake pedal cotter pin cover along with its pin before moving the brake pedal position (BPP) switch and brake booster push rod from the pedal pin. Install the 4 brake booster-to-pedal bracket nuts with a torque of 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) when reinstalling them. The brake booster should be removed last before reinstalling it by following the reverse sequence of removal.
