2008 Ford Focus A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the A/C Condenser core on 2008 Ford Focus?
A: You should start condenser core repair or servicing by taking away the lower radiator air deflector. The refrigerant needs recovery before disconnecting the horn assembly connector and removing wire harness pin-retainers at the lower radiator support. Disassemble the condenser outlet and inlet fitting nuts then disconnect the fittings before discarding both O-ring seals and gasket seals but maintain a torque of 15 Nm (133 lb-in) when reinstalling the new connections. A suitable jackstand should support the cooling module at the lower radiator support but you must position several shop towels between the equipment and jackstand to prevent damage. Lowering the jackstand requires holding the cooling module in position until the lower radiator support becomes loose after removing its four bolts secured at 25 Nm (18 lb-ft) torque. Vehicles with automatic transmission should obtain transmission oil cooler line connectors then detach their pins while removing the transmission oil cooler tube bracket pin-type retainer. The two condenser bolts should be removed one at a time before being tightened to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) upon reinstallation. Afterward, the condenser core should be extracted from the vehicle. The installation will be finished by following the reversal of removal steps while adding new gasket seals and O-ring seals to all components before properly applying clean PAG oil to the refrigerant system. End the process by evacuating the system while conducting leak tests before charging the refrigerant.
