2008 Ford Fusion Automatic Transmission Filter Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Automatic Transmission Filter on 2008 Ford Fusion?
A: Starting with a hoisted vehicle in neutral position service and repair professionals should begin the automatic transmission fluid filter operation. The drain plug should be removed for full fluid draining before reinstalling and tightening it to 29 Nm (21 lb-ft). Use a suitable tool to separate the bead of sealer while removing the transmission fluid pan by taking out its bolts. A metal surface cleaner must be used to completely remove silicone residue from the surfaces of the transmission fluid pan along with the transaxle case. During transmission fluid pan installation operatives should apply a 1-1/2 millimeter thick sealer bead onto the transaxle sealing surface but must never exceed this amount to avoid internal transaxle damage. Before clamping down the pan, use 7 Nm (62 lb-in) torque. Then add clean transmission fluid to the transaxle.
