2007 Ford Fusion Automatic Transmission Filter Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Automatic Transmission Filter on 2007 Ford Fusion?
A: Placing the vehicle in neutral position on a hoist should be the first step for automatic transmission fluid filter service and repair procedures. Drain the complete fluid through the transmission plug before reinstalling it securely at 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Disassemble the transaxle fluid pan by removing its bolts then separating the bead of sealer with suitable instruments. You should use a metal surface cleaner to clean all silicone residue from both the transaxle fluid pan and transaxle case surfaces. The fluid pan installation requires a 1-1/2 millimeter thick sealer application on the fluid pan sealing surface but never use more than the specified amount to avoid damaging the transaxle internally. The tightening torque on the fluid pan should be set to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.) before adding clean automatic transmission fluid to the transaxle.
