2008 Ford Mustang Washer Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the windshield washer pump and fluid reservoir on 2008 Ford Mustang?
A: Service operations on the windshield washer pump and fluid reservoir begin with hoisting the vehicle to a correct position while keeping it in neutral gear. Early service starts with thermal draining of the washer solvent through hose disconnection then removes the electric connector from the washer pump. In case of windshield washer pump replacement it must be extracted from its mounting position. Disassemble the fluid reservoir by removing its two bolts at which point reinstall the bolts with 6 Nm (53 lb-in) of torque. You need to remove the nut which holds the windshield washer fluid reservoir while you should tighten it to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) during assembly. Operating the windshield washer pump before filling the reservoir will result in premature pump failure. The service completion requires reverse following of the removal procedures.
