2009 Ford Mustang Washer Pump Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the windshield washer pump and reservoir on 2009 Ford Mustang?
A: The initial step to service windshield washer pump and reservoir requires positioning a hoisted vehicle in neutral configuration. First disconnect the windshield washer pump hose before draining the washer solvent then disconnect the electrical connector from the washer pump. After disconnecting the windshield washer pump hose drain the washer solvent and proceed with removing the pump. The fluid reservoir installation requires the removal of two bolts after which they need to be tightened to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). You should remove the nut and the windshield washer fluid reservoir before reinstalling by tightening to 6 Nm (53 lb-in) during the process. Operating the windshield washer pump before filling the reservoir will create premature damage to the pump. Therefore this operation must be avoided. You must follow the opposite order of removal procedures to reinstall the components.
