Service and repair of the transmission mount requires NEUTRAL gear selection and a hoisting system installation for the vehicle. The first step for working on rear wheel drive (RWD) vehicles includes removing the front driveshaft. Identify points on the driveshaft yoke and axle flange for maintaining driveshaft balance before removing the four rear driveshaft bolts. The rear driveshaft separation from the flange requires careful use of a pry bar which should never involve a hammer. Secondly detach the insulator nuts before lifting the transmission to a stable position. Remove the insulator screws before taking out the insulator. Install the new insulator on the extension housing by using the insulator-to-extension housing screws before tightening them to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). Insert the insulator into the crossmember before torquing all nuts to their original values. After checking that the driveshaft points to the previous balance marks install its new bolts with 103 Nm (76 lb-ft) torque. The rear driveshaft should then be put in place.
