In order to service the parking assist distance sensor, unplug the electrical connector and detach the sensor itself off of the rear bumper. Install the new sensor until the tabs are locked, reconnect the connector and with a scan tool, check that the PIDs show no object there and that attenuation is between 0-16 ms.
