2008 Lincoln Mark LT Crankshaft Position Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Crankshaft Position Sensor on 2008 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: The first step to servicing the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor requires a vehicle in neutral gear position while hanging from a hoist. Rotate the accessory drive belt clockwise while you detach it from the A/C compressor pulley. A sufficient amount of bolt loosening enables the compressor to move downward 25 mm (1 inch) for sensor access. First disconnect the electrical connector of the CKP sensor and then proceed to remove its securing bolt to extract the sensor. The proper torque for the CKP sensor bolt should be set to 10 Nm (89 lb-in) while the A/C compressor bolts must be tightened to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil after which you should reinsert it during the installation process.
