2008 Lincoln Mark LT Sway Bar Link Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the Sway Bar Link on 2008 Lincoln Mark LT?
A: First service and repair sway bar link operations demand the vehicle to sit in neutral gear on a hoist. Start servicing the bar link by removing its upper nuts while discarding both lower nuts along with sway bar links and sway bar brackets. The next service step involves removing sway bar bracket nuts while also removing brackets and sway bar from service. The new sway bar needs to be positioned in the center of both sway bar brackets where both sway bar link distances to the brackets remain equal. A paint mark on the sway bar is meant to appear on its left side when facing the front of the vehicle. First tighten the bracket nuts onto the sway bar and brackets before tightening the lower nuts of the sway bar link to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft). The sway link and bar must form a right angle while tightening to achieve precise sway nut installation. Put on the sway bar link upper nuts then tighten them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). The sway bar must be placed in the center before securing its bracket nuts to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft). You should install new parts with their matching part numbers or equivalent specifications and apply specified torque values to achieve correct retention of critical components.
