2008 Lincoln MKZ Starter Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the starter motor on 2008 Lincoln MKZ?
A: The service process for a starter motor starts by disconnecting the battery ground cable at the battery for safety from hazardous tool contact at the starter motor battery terminal that could lead to burns. Start your procedure by stripping the battery tray followed by separating the wire harness pin-type retainer of the starter motor. Tighten the starter motor solenoid wire nut to a value of 5 Nm (44 lb-in) before reattaching it and set the wire aside. Set the cover of the starter motor solenoid terminal battery cable aside before removing its battery cable nut and setting the cable aside. Reinstall this cable with 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) torque. Detach the two starter motor bolts before removing the motor itself and reinstall using torques of 27 Nm (20 lb-ft). The installation process ends with the reverse procedure.
