2008 Lincoln MKZ Battery Cable Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the battery cables on 2008 Lincoln MKZ?
A: The service of battery cables begins by removing the battery tray followed by removing the bolt which enables positioning the battery cable body ground terminal aside while tightening this bolt to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) during reinstallation. The battery cable starter solenoid terminal should be set aside when both the terminal cover and the nut are removed securing it to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft) during installation. The starter motor solenoid wire terminal requires its nut removal to position properly until tightening to 5 Nm (44 lb-in) before reinstallation. When reinstalling the battery cable transaxle ground terminal position it to the side while tightening it to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). The technician should detach the battery cable locator from the transaxle stud bolt and the three battery cable locators from the LH valve cover. The generator protective cover needs to move aside as the nut is removed and the generator B+ terminal handled properly for installation with a torque of 12 Nm (9 lb-ft). To complete this process return the battery cables before installing them following the removed order.
