2008 Lincoln Navigator Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the throttle body on 2008 Lincoln Navigator?
A: The first step for throttle body service and repair requires users to protect safety by staying away from both smoking and open flames around fuel-related system components because these areas contain highly flammable mixtures. First unplug the battery cable and detach the air cleaner outlet pipe from its position. The maintenance process begins with quick connect coupling removal before extracting the crankcase vent tube and proceeding to disconnect the generator wiring harness retainer accessory from the air cleaner outlet pipe-to-throttle body adapter. First remove the four bolts which enable positioning the air cleaner outlet tube-to-throttle body adapter aside before disconnecting electronic throttle control and throttle position sensor electrical connectors. you need to remove four bolts that secure the vibration damper before you extract the throttle body assembly along with the O-ring seal that has to be disposed. Position the throttle body and vibration damper by using a new O-ring seal and tighten the four bolts in two stages first to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) before continuing to an additional 90 degrees. Rejoin both connections of the throttle position sensor and electronic throttle control electrical wiring. Apply clean engine coolant lubrication to the adapter seal before you position the adapter along with tightening its four bolts to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Complete this process by (1) connecting the adapter to the generator wiring harness retainer followed by (2) positioning the crankcase vent tube along with (3) connecting the quick connect couplings. Replacement of the air cleaner outlet pipe should be followed by reconnection of the battery ground cable.
