How to Service and Repair the Shift Knob on a Transmission Control (TC) Switch on 2008 Mercury Sable?

To replace the shift knob of a car that has a transmission control (TC) switch, loosen the trim of the shift bezel, the upper console panel, and the lower shift knob bezel. Unhook the connector of TC switch and unhook the shift knob. Installation requires reconnection of TC switch, fastening of knob and replacing the console.
