    A: The first step to work on the rear parking brake cable demands that you free the parking brake control through the parking brake release handle. The order to service and repair the rear parking brake cable requires the deactivation of the fire suppression system to avoid potential serious harm to workers. Position the vehicle into NEUTRAL mode on a hoist. Use your other hand to depress the parking brake adjuster clip as you set the brake control to the fullest extent. The parking brake adjuster can be locked in place through upward movement on the adjuster clip. Afterward you can release the parking brake control. The front parking brake cable requires disconnection from its union with the LH rear parking brake cable before disconnecting the LH rear parking brake conduit from the cable adjuster. The LH rear parking brake cable extension union and conduit should be separated from their attachment points while moving forward. First disconnect the RH rear parking brake cable and conduit from the frame bracket by pressing the retaining tabs then remove the RH rear parking brake cable wire-form bracket bolts which need to be tightened to 17 Nm (150 lb-in) when reinstalling the bolts. Remove the RH rear parking brake cable extension union along with the wire conduit after disconnection from housing clips on the axle. Install the component by reversing the elimination steps while fine-tuning the cable tension according to requirements. After service completion be sure to perform a repower of the fire suppression system because failure to do so will lead to hazardous personal injury.
