- Q: How to Service the Power Steering Hose on 2009 Ford E-250?A: A hoist supporting the vehicle needs to be placed in neutral position for power steering line and hose servicing. A proper suction tool should be used to empty the power steering fluid from its reservoir. Service the power steering line and hose by starting with the removal of pushpin retainers before taking out the upper air deflector and securing the power steering fluid reservoir bracket to the cowl with two bolts which should be tightened to 14 Nm (124 lb-in) when reinstalling. The next step involves removing the two bolts fastening the reservoir bracket to the radiator support but these bolts need to be tightened to 9 Nm (80 lb-in) when reinstalling. First disconnect the coolant hoses that are attached to the air cleaner outlet tube before setting the power steering fluid reservoir and its bracket to the side. Use a tool to loosen the two clamps before taking off the air cleaner outlet tube. Rinse out all foreign contaminants from the threads of the pressure line-to-hydraulic booster jumper line fitting before securing it to a torque of 63 Nm (46 lb-ft). Use the same method to detach the pressure line from the steering gear fitting. After cleaning the thread area install the line at 20 Nm torque (177 lb-in). Complete the power steering system filling operation after reversing the removal steps.
