2009 Ford Explorer Brake Light Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service the brake light switch on 2009 Ford Explorer?
A: The brake light switch service requires verifying that the brake pedal and master cylinder as well as the brake booster remain intact before disconnecting the stoplamp switch. The installer must do away with stoplamp switch installation whenever the brake pedal arm remains unbound from the brake booster push rod. Pulling or pushing the brake pedal should be avoided when installing or removing the stoplamp switch to prevent any changes or damage to the system. First disconnect the electricity connector attached to the stoplamp switch. The stoplamp switch requires rotating 45 degrees towards the clock direction to separate it from its mounting location. The process to mount the new switch involves doing the opposite of what was done during removal.
