The first step to work on the Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Valve of 4.6L (2V), 4.6L (3V), and 5.4L (3V) engines requires cutting off the battery ground cable to stop ignition of flammable mixtures. Service of the EVAP canister purge valve starts with disconnecting both electrical connectors and the hose then separating the quick connect coupling points involving the valve and the intake manifold. The vapor tube quick connect coupling needs to be disconnected from where it connects the EVAP canister to the EVAP canister purge valve and hose assembly. The EVAP canister purge valve and hose assembly must slide off its bracket. Finishing the installation requires performing the opposite steps to removal. Do the Evaporative Emission System Leak Test to check proper system functionality following installation.
