2009 Ford F-150 Muffler Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Tail Pipe and Muffler on 2009 Ford F-150?
A: Draining the muffler and tailpipe requires start-by placing the vehicle in neutral position on a hoist platform. Unfasten the Torca® clamp that connects between the exhaust intermediate pipe and muffler and tailpipe assembly. The front muffler isolator and bracket assembly can be separated from the frame by unfastening its two bolts before moving the muffler and tailpipe assembly past the intermediate pipe and through the rear tailpipe hanger. The exhaust Torca® clamp needs abrasive pad treatment on its surface to remove rust followed by installation of the new muffler and tailpipe assembly before assembly. Fit the muffler and tailpipe assembly so the alignment nub inserts into the L-notch of the exhaust intermediate pipe while placing it into the rear tailpipe hanger. Secure the front muffler isolator with bracket assembly using two bolts while tightening them to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft). The Torca® clamp connecting the exhaust intermediate pipe to the muffler and tailpipe assembly should be tightened to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
