2009 Ford Flex Brake Booster Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the vacuum brake booster on 2009 Ford Flex?
A: You should start maintenance and repairs of vacuum brake boosters by removing the brake master cylinder along with the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). .disconnect the brake booster vacuum fitting then place it safely aside. You should remove the stoplamp switch and speed control deactivator switch from the brake pedal when it rests at the fully raised position to compress their plungers properly before servicing the brake booster; otherwise the switch will get damaged. The first step toward replacement involves removing the stoplamp switch together with any present speed control deactivation switches. Remove the self-locking pin cover while removing the self-locking pin after which the booster rod appears next followed by the washer. Remove the brake booster by discarding its four securing nuts. Apply new nuts before you torque them to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Avoid touching the brake pedal while installing stoplamp and speed control switches since the correct adjustment requires having the brake pedal in its resting position and with the booster push rod attached to the pedal for safety purposes. Return all tools then implement the reversal of the removal process to finish the installation.
