2009 Ford Flex Brake Light Switch Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the brake light switch on 2009 Ford Flex?
A: The first step for brake light switch servicing requires detachment of the stoplamp switch electrical connector. A sufficient brake pedal rearward pressure of 4-12 N [3-10 lb] will allow the removal of the stoplamp switch when its plunger is depressed. To remove this part, first depress the brake pedal while applying 4-12 N [3-10 lb] of force then both rotate the switch 45 degrees clockwise then pull the stoplamp switch free. Inspect the brake pedal assembly throughout installation because any contact may harm the stoplamp switch. To install the stoplamp switch keep the brake pedal stationary and position it at a 45 degrees clockwise turn. The stoplamp switch electrical connector needs to be attached. Perform an additional removal and installation of the stoplamp to check correct operation while maintaining strict(section) control of the brake pedal. Finally engage the engine while pressing the brake pedal several times to check stoplamp functionality.
