The differential housing service requires machined surfaces of rear axle housing and differential housing cover to be completely cleaned from oil residue while protecting the rear axle interior from damage. The differential vent on the rear cover must be unobstructed while cleaning the mating surfaces that connect the differential housing and cover together. The differential housing cover must get installed during the first 15 minutes of silicone rubber application or new silicone rubber becomes necessary. Silicone rubber needs at least one hour of curing time before the lubricant addition process begins.
